Tenovus Cancer Care’s Sing with Us choir pretended to be from the National Lottery Community Fund before breaking out in song with news of the £1,893 grant.
They were joined by National Lottery Community Fund Chief Executive Dawn Austwick who presented the cheque at Mold Rugby Club.
Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the grant will be used for an event to celebrate integration of diverse communities. This will include stalls run by groups who celebrate inclusivity and diversity and a screening of the 2014 film Pride.
RainbowBiz Limited is a social enterprise based in Flintshire. Its aim is to promote equality and diversity with activities including a weekly community gardening project, community cinema and hippy shop. They previously received £5,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund for the North East Wales Diversity Festival.
While a grant of nearly £1 million in 2011 enabled Tenovus Cancer Care to establish 15 choirs for cancer patients over 50 years old, their families, carers, friends and those who have been bereaved through the disease across Wales.
